Pollution Control Products Co. - A History

The history of Pollution Control Products Co. is the history of “burn-off” ovens.  The Company was founded in 1971 to build and market pollution-free furnaces for industrial use in removing hydrocarbons from various metal parts.

The first “ovens” – Stator Reclamation Furnaces - were built in 1970 for stripping electric motor stators so they could be rewound.  With the introduction of these single burner furnaces – the Model 88 - the Company began development of the first market for burn-off furnaces in the electric motor rewinding industry.  Since then PCPC has led the way in product and market innovation, and today stands as the largest single manufacturer of these products in the world.  Other “Firsts” introduced by the Company include:

1972 –

Introduced Models 150 and 260 – larger units to process larger volumes

1973 –

Opened a sales office in England to develop the English and European markets for furnaces manufactured in the US

1974 –

Offered the first two-burner Dry Cleaner models incorporating a separate afterburner to further control exhaust emissions and the first top-mounted explosion relief doors which later became required on all burn-off ovens

1978 –

Introduced the patented Controlled Pyrolysis furnace using a water spray system to control the rate of smoke emitted in the cleaning process

1979 –

Introduced Controlled Pyrolysis cleaning into automotive parts rebuilding and painting and powder-coating applications

1982 –

Opened a factory in England to supply the growing English and European markets.  The 1,000th unit was manufactured in the US.

1984 –

Introduced the patented InertGas furnace using a reduced oxygen environment and dual water sprays to increase the volumes of material that could be processed

1987 –

The 2,000th unit was manufactured and shipped in the US.

1991 –

Introduced the patented RateControlled furnace increasing the level of processing control of the original Controlled Pyrolysis design.  Shipped the 3,000th US unit

1996 –

Shipped the 4,000th unit from the US factory

1998 –

Shipped the 5,000th unit from the combined output of the US and UK factories

Today, the Company continues to be the leader in environmentally safe pyrolysis cleaning technology.  We offer four distinct models of Burn-Off Furnaces to meet the needs of widely varying applications.  Our principles of doing business are simple.  They are unchanged from when we began doing business in 1971.
