Controlled Pyrolysis Models - PTR, VPI, ATR

(For parts with up to 15% combustibles. Max 480°C)
Quickly strip all kinds of parts the easy way with a Controlled Pyrolysis furnace.

Controlled Pyrolysis models can remove the same combustible materials as Dry Cleaner models but in greater quantities, 2 to 15% by weight.

These models have a much more sensitive control system, U.S. Patent 4,270,898, located in the afterburner stack.
This system monitors the rate of smoke emissions from the parts by measuring the stack temperature. When the stack temperature reaches a preset point the stack controller turns on and off a water spray mist to cool the parts, lowering the smoke emission rate before smoke can reach an ignition state. The water spray system also operates if the furnace temperature exceeds its set-point temperature by 30-50°C. A separate back-up water spray turns on should the main water spray nozzles become clogged. A high reset temperature limit (manual reset) is also incorporated into the primary burner system should the furnace temperature controller fail.

All CPS models are equipped with our latest Digital Control System that uses the latest technology available. This system incorporates many standard features that enhance safety.

  • Battery Back-up system in the event of total power failure that sprays water into the furnace chamber to prevent fires or emissions to atmosphere
  • Watchdog software that monitors the system in the background if main process fails. This will restart the system from where it failed and continue to process end.
  • Lockable keypad once furnace operational, so that once set, only main operator can change the system
  • Monitors for water and gas loss, as well as normal process indication lamps.
  • Optional 5-temperature-profile program. This allows for 5 different temperature profiles to be pre-programmed.
  • Optional Data logging to integral printer, that will log all temperatures, process time remaining and water counts. Also prints any system faults that occur during process that can be used in fault finding.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF Controlled Pyrolysis MODELS:

  • PATENTED CONTROLLED PYROLYSIS water spray system controls the rate of smoke emissions which prevents an ignition or overheat condition in the furnace.
  • SECONDARY BURNER raises the temperature of the smoke to 850°C for ½ to 2-seconds to completely burn it before discharge to the atmosphere.
  • EXPLOSION RELIEF DOOR (S) automatically opens to relieve excess pressure, then closes preventing air from reaching combustible materials. Smoke is prevented from entering factory area.
  • PRIMARY BURNER heats the metal parts to 430-480°C. The volatile materials are driven off as smoke. Burner flame is confined to the combustion chamber, never touching the parts.
  • DISCHARGE EFFLUENT consists primarily of carbon dioxide and water vapor, which are invisible, odorless, and harmless.
  • FUEL AVAILABLE:
    • Natural Gas.
    • Propane Gas.
    • Number 2 fuel oil.
